The lodge's shingle-roofed stilt house among tall pines

About the Lodge

The soul of the terraces, in a wooden refuge

Authenticity, nature, serenity.

The spirit of the place

A wooden refuge, resting like a breath on the hillside

Mù Cang Chải is not something you visit: it is something you feel. Here, every terrace is a human gesture, repeated for generations.

Built between November 2016 and July 2017 with the materials of the Thai and Hmong communities, the lodge was designed to step back before the landscape: frames and columns in the Thai way, roofs in the Hmong way. No pomp, just the real thing: wood, mist and the warmth of the people.

  • 280 kmfrom Hanoi

The Son Tra restaurant

At the table, after the walk

A hall of wood and brick, red tablecloths, lanterns. The flavours of the region, served a stone's throw from the rice fields: breakfast on the terrace, a warm dinner as evening falls.

In winter, two fireplaces warm the room. You settle on the wooden benches, close to the logs, and the mountain night can fall.

When to come

Three seasons, three landscapes

Golden curved terraces at sunset
September – October: at sunset, the terraces turn to gold.

May – June

The season of water mirrors: the first rains fill the terraces, and the mountain becomes a mosaic of mirrors reflecting the sky.

September – October

The golden season: the main harvest. The whole valley is draped in gold, the ideal time for hiking and photography.

November – March

Winter serenity: the pure, fresh air of the altitude (1,430 m) and evenings by the fire, near the two fireplaces of the Son Tra restaurant.

Ecotourism and responsibility

A stay that respects the mountain

Local materials, Thai and Hmong craftsmanship, minimal impact on the natural and cultural environment. The rice terraces are not just a view: they feed the villages and carry their history.

For the Hmong and Thai people of Mù Cang Chải, every being has a soul: the fields, the rice, the thunder, the water. We invite you to walk here with that same attention.
